Strömberg Fischnamen 119 (after the cock). - PN Κοττίς, Κότταλος, - άλη (Herod.).Origin: PG [a word of Pre-Greek origin]X [probably]Etymology: Connection with κοτύλη `bowl, dish' is a guess.
